Mainstreaming
Gender in Development program is an offshoot of IDSP diverse experiment
in the field of Human Resource Development.
Considering the previous experiences, IDSP host the program, which is spread
over two years. This program is consisting of four different learning cohorts.
Goal:
• Building human resource capital through rigorous
process with special reference of women community workers in the prospective
of Balochistan and exposing/demystifying gender gaps while focusing the
relationship between family and community.
• Integrating the learning of intern scheme NWFP and building the
capacity of the Cohort of 3 associate mentors in institutional development.
• Strengthening and enhancing institutional capacity of IDSP in gender
and development
Objectives:
• To develop a cadre of 100 women in 6 districts
of Balochistan, who can contribute in the process of district and community
development Processes.
• To provide learning spaces to the cohort of 3 Associate Mentors
for understanding the institutional development processes.
• To institutionalize the Gender, Self-development and Mentoring as
the cross cutting themes in IDSP.
The process:
This program caters four different cohorts with different learning objectives, which are as follows.
Cohort 1:
This is cohort is consisting of 20 young girls from the six different districts of Balochistan, I.e., Pishin, Quetta, Sibi, khuzdar, killasaifullah, and lasbela. In the first year of the program the Interns went through a rigorous process of theory and practice. They remain in the residential course for five months where they studied various modules regarding empowerment of women on the skills, behavior and conceptual level. This was aimed to develop critical consciousness in the interns. They have also undertaken challenging practices for 4 month at field.
Cohort2:
It is consisting of the 3 Associate mentors who remained
as Interns and mentors in the Interns scheme Peshawar.
The purpose of their engagement in the program is to streamline their Institutional
development capacity; they remained at IDSP for the first phase of the program,
where they contributed in the program theory and practice as associate mentors.
Cohort3:
This cohort is consisting of the Institute for Development Studies and practices, which was aimed to Mainstream Gender in the institute at policy, academic and aver all cultural level.
Cohort 4:
The 20 Interns have been graduated in the first phase of
the program.
They have become the mentors, where they will rigorously work with 80 more
women at their respective districts. The expected 80 interns are known as
the fourth cohort of the program
